Media Advisory - Alain Babineau Joins The Red Coalition As Director -Racial Profiling and Public Safety
MONTREAL, May 30, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ - The Red Coalition is proud to announce Mr. Alain Babineau as its new director on issues of racial profiling and public safety. After 30 years in law enforcement including stints with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Military Police of Canada, Alain retired in 2016 at the rank of Staff Sergeant after 28 years of service in the within the RCMP. Mr. Babineau is a jurist and a trained mediator, and over the last few years, he has worked as an expert in racial and social profiling for the Office of the Commissioner for the Fight against Racism and Systemic Discrimination for the City of Montreal, and as an advisor to the Center de Research Action on Race Relations (CRARR) in Montreal. In his new role, Mr. Babineau will act as spokesperson and coordinator for the Red Coalition on issues of racial profiling and public safety, as well as a resource person accessible to all community organizations and progressive organizations.
The Red Coalition:
The "trauma" caused by the practice of racial profiling by Canadian police forces does not only stop at the victim, but also affects those close to them. The Red Coalition is a group of people from all walks of life with a common goal: to eliminate the practice of racial profiling and systemic racism in Canada, while raising awareness in society of the public health issues that result from it. We are the only registered lobbyist organization in Canada advocating to eliminate racial profiling, and 1 of 3 lobby groups fighting against racism in this country.
During a press conference, the Red Coalition will present to the public its new director and his priority issues for 2022, as well as the objectives and initiatives of the organization. Representatives of various Canadian and Quebec community groups will also be present to support their efforts.
